You built this, now it's growing

I want to take a minute to tell you something about what's happening at Cornerstone, and about the part you've played in it without even knowing. Last week, Cornerstone Fitness ran their first week of classes following Comptrain's Complete Training program. The same program we've been following here at CrossFit Fairfield for about 18 months. The same daily structure, the same strength cycles, the same philosophy — build up, don't burn out. From here forward, when you walk into class on a Monday morning, the members at Cornerstone are walking into the same workout, the same stimulus, the same intentional design. That decision didn't get made because of theory. It got made because of you. What you provedWhen we transitioned to Comptrain 18 months ago, it was a leap. I believed in the program. I believed it would serve this community. But beliefs don't lift bars or finish workouts. You did. Week after week, cycle after cycle, you showed up, trusted the structure, and gave the system room to do its work. The results were yours, not the program's. More PRs across the community, fewer injuries, better attendance, higher class and coach ratings, stronger performances in the Open, more members qualifying for Quarterfinals and Semifinals, more members taking on challenges outside the gym like 5Ks, 10Ks, marathons (lookin' at you Roberto), HYROX races (Lucy), local competitions (Thomas, Tess, Zak, Wyatt, and more), weekend adventures with their families. Those outcomes are what made the decision at Cornerstone possible. I didn't walk into Cornerstone three months ago and pitch them a theory. I walked in with evidence. Your evidence. The training you've put in here at Fairfield is the reason another community now gets access to the same framework. You set the standard. Cornerstone is rising to meet it. That's worth saying out loud. What your feedback has builtI also want to thank our coaches and all of you specifically for the feedback you've given over the last 18 months. The Comptrain program our community follows today is not the program we started with. It's been sharpened through coaches noticing what was landing and what wasn't, through your asking questions that forced clearer answers, through hundreds of small adjustments made because someone had the courage to say "this part isn't quite working." Our coaches have been the front line of that work. They've watched the floor, raised the right questions, pushed back where pushback was warranted, and helped me make customization calls that serve this community better than any off-the-shelf program ever could. All of you have been part of it too. The questions you've asked, the scaling conversations you've had, the honest feedback you've offered after a workout that didn't quite hit the way it was meant to. All of that has gone into shaping what we do here. And, because of my direct relationship with the Comptrain team, a lot of that feedback hasn't stayed inside our walls. It's traveled. It's shaped what other gyms running Comptrain experience. You've made the program better not just for Fairfield, but for everyone running it. Keep it coming. The program improves because you care. What grows from hereBoth gyms now training inside the same system means something practical, and it means something bigger. Practically, we're working on getting both locations onto StreamFit. It won't happen overnight, but once we're there, both gyms will share a leaderboard. Same workout, same stimulus, same shared experience across two communities. You'll start to recognize names from Cornerstone. They'll start to recognize yours. When we run events like Murph, or show up for HalfRox, when we gather for the big community events, there will be a level of mutual recognition that doesn't exist today. The bigger thing is what that recognition makes possible. Community across locations. A wider circle of people pursuing the same thing; strength, conditioning, mobility, capability for life. People come to a gym to experience this work with other people. Anything that broadens that circle is worth doing. We're not absorbing Cornerstone. We're not exporting Fairfield. Both gyms keep their identity, their coaches, their culture. What changes is that we're all training inside the same framework and that framework is what you've spent the last 18 months proving works. What's next hereFor us at Fairfield, the work continues exactly as it has. The strength cycles roll forward. The conditioning rotates through its energy systems. The mobility stays built into every class. We're in the rhythm. Keep showing up. Keep trusting the process. Keep giving feedback to your coaches and to me when something is or isn't working. What's different now is that you're not just training for yourselves. You're modeling what's possible for a sister community that's just starting where you were 18 months ago. They'll watch what you do. They'll hear about what you've built. And as the two gyms get closer, you'll be part of welcoming them into the same work that's transformed your training. |
