Shaping the Next Generation – Youth Summer Program Launch

When I first started coaching kids, I wasn’t teaching squats or push-ups. I was only 18 years old and I was coaching a swim team. But, it wasn't just about fast times or better stroke mechanics. I was planting seeds. Seeds of confidence, resilience, and the belief that effort matters. There’s something powerful about watching a young athlete in any sport or context realize they’re stronger than they thought, both in body and in spirit.

That’s why our Youth Program at CrossFit Fairfield has always held a special place in my heart. In fact, the youth program is why CrossFit Fairfield got started at all. Before it was CrossFit Fairfield, it was called Hole in the Roof CrossFit and it was just young athletes throwing down in the Knapp family garage.History lesson aside, I'm so excited to announce that this summer, our youth program is getting a bold new energy.

I'm beyond excited to introduce Coach Marcos Tiderman, a true standout athlete and role model, as the newest coach on our team. At just 17 years old, Marcos has already earned his spot as the 66th Fittest Teen in the World, shines on the football field as a varsity linebacker at Fairfield High School, and recently completed his CrossFit Level 1 Certificate Course.

Marcos understands what it takes to grow as a young athlete — the discipline, the mindset, and the fun. And more importantly, he’s passionate about giving back and helping others do the same.

Whether your child is brand new to fitness or already on a competitive path, this program is designed to meet them where they’re at — and take them to the next level. We focus on movement fundamentals, strength development, teamwork, and most of all, fun.

Personally I'm excited about this for three different reasons:

  1. As a coach, I’m very excited about the opportunity to mentor Marcos as he gets into coaching around the same age that I first got into coaching.

  2. As a gym owner, I’m very excited about the fact that I’ve been so lucky to be able to keep building a team that is so passionate about amazing service.

  3. As a parent, I’m beyond pumped to send my own kids to be coached by Marcos. He’s an incredible athlete, which creates immediate buy-in for other young athletes, but more importantly, he’s a young man of strong character.

Why It Matters

Fitness for kids isn’t just about athletics — it’s about giving them tools for life and helping them latch onto the idea that fitness can be and IS fun. At CrossFit Fairfield, we believe in helping young people develop physical literacy, inner confidence, and a love for movement that lasts well beyond the gym.

If you're a parent, coach, or someone who just cares about raising strong humans — this is your sign to get your child involved.

Coach Marcos will also be supporting other classes throughout the summer, so you’ll see him bringing that same focus and fire to our wider community.

Here’s to a summer full of growth, grit, and greatness.
