“Choose your rest, or your rest will choose you.”
You’ve probably heard me say this before a tough workout. But this idea stretches far beyond the gym.
The truth is, life is full of challenges—there’s no avoiding them. But we do have a choice in which challenges we take on. We can either face difficulties on our own terms, or we can wait until they force their way into our lives. Gandhi’s words remind us that every choice we make today shapes our tomorrow. When we decide to take control, we create a stronger, healthier future for ourselves.
Hard is Inevitable—So Choose Wisely
Waking up early to train is hard. Feeling sluggish and out of shape is hard.
Meal prepping and fueling your body is hard. Relying on quick fixes and struggling with energy crashes is hard.
Prioritizing mobility and recovery is hard. Dealing with nagging injuries is hard.
Every day, we’re faced with these choices. When we choose our hard, we’re taking ownership of our progress, our health, and our future. When we ignore the small challenges, we often end up facing bigger ones down the road.
How Can You Apply This Today?
Identify a “hard” you’ve been avoiding. Maybe it’s dialing in your nutrition, committing to a consistent training schedule, or focusing on recovery.
Take one step today. Start small—prep one meal, hit the gym even when you don’t feel like it, or set a bedtime to prioritize sleep.
Remind yourself why it matters. The discomfort of discipline is temporary, but the discomfort of regret lasts much longer.
Need Help Making Change?
Consider asking one of our Breakthrough Blueprint participants how they managed to make the right hard decisions over the last four weeks. Our habit adoption success rate was over 85%! That means almost 9 times out of ten, our participants - with the support of the group - chose to step toward the better version of themselves. Huge Congrats to them all!
What Hard Will You Choose?
Hard is coming either way. The difference is whether it’s on your terms. As we step into the weekend and look out onto the horizon toward next week, choose the hard that moves you forward. Future you will thank you.
