Meet Natalie: Embracing Strength and Family Through CrossFit





Introduction: At our CrossFit gym in Fairfield, OH, we love sharing the inspiring stories of our members. Today, we're excited to introduce you to Natalie, a dedicated school teacher who has discovered a new passion for strength and community through CrossFit. Her journey is a testament to the power of family, perseverance, and the transformative impact of fitness.


Natalie's Introduction to CrossFit: Natalie had always been curious about CrossFit, inspired by her dad, who is an avid CrossFitter. However, it wasn't until CrossFit Fairfield opened just minutes from her home that she decided to give it a try. From the moment she stepped into our gym, Natalie embraced the challenge and the camaraderie that CrossFit offers.


Finding Strength and Power: Since joining, Natalie has grown to love the feeling of being strong and powerful. The varied and intense workouts have not only improved her physical fitness but also boosted her confidence and mental resilience. As a school teacher, Natalie balances a demanding job with her commitment to her CrossFit training, demonstrating remarkable dedication and time management.


A Special Murph Experience: This year, Natalie and her dad participated in the Murph Challenge at CrossFit Fairfield, a special Hero workout honoring fallen a fallen solider. Completing Murph together was particularly meaningful for Natalie, as her sister serves in the Navy. The shared experience with her dad and the supportive community made it an unforgettable and emotional milestone in her fitness journey.

Natalie's Reflections: When asked about her experience, Natalie shared, "When a lot of people hear the word “CrossFit”, they have an image in their head of elite athletes doing crazy exercises, lifting intense weights, and ultimately the belief that “there’s no way I could do that”.


I used to be that person. I have never been super athletic, even though I’ve always wanted to improve my overall physical health and strength. I always had this fear that I wasn’t “good enough” for what I thought was a higher level of fitness. And when it came to trying CrossFit, I thought “there’s no way”.

Then I got to see my dad not only try out CrossFit but also how it completely changed his life. And one day, he texts me “there’s a new CrossFit gym in your neighborhood, try it out!”


After going back and forth in my head, I swallowed my fear and I went to a free community class at CrossFit Fairfield. I’ll admit, it was a totally different structure to working out than I was used to, but at the end of the workout, members came up to me and gave me fist bumps and high fives. They didn’t even know me and yet welcomed me. The coaches were easy to talk to, not at all imitating like I expected. And by the end of workout, as tired as I was, I knew I wanted to come back.


I wanted to try new things, even if I had to learn completely from scratch. The energy, the fellowship, and the drive to persevere that I felt at CrossFit Fairfield was nothing short of addicting. 


I’ve been a member since May, and since starting, I’ve become a stronger runner, I can deadlift more than my body weight, and I’m slowly getting better at mental math. This gym is changing my life. And I never would have felt this way if I hadn’t given it a try.
